Art and Science of Being an Effective Team Leader

This is a four part series (2 sessions @ 180 minutes each) perfect for directors, managers, supervisors and team leads in homelessness and housing services. Making distinctions between leadership and management, the focus is on building and supporting teams of staff and volunteers to serve people who are experiencing homelessness. The main themes covered are:

  1. Finding your voice and natural leadership style and how that helps form your vision

  2. Creating and supporting high-performing teams while taking care of regular management functions

  3. The toughest parts of the job (e.g., lack of buy-in, being thrown under the bus, when one or more staff or partner organizations go rogue, etc.)

  4. Making progress in ending homelessness - celebrating successes, overcoming challenges, and using data and information to make improvements
